The Chronicles Of Narnia

On November 29th in 1898 the author, English scholar and defender of Christianity C. S. Lewis was born in Belfast. He taught at both Oxford and Cambridge in England and is famous for writing The Chronicles Of Narnia.

Lewis sufferred terrible criticism from his friends when he married an American poet so that she could remain in England to persue her literary career. This Autumn we’ll be broadcasting readings from his Narnia books as well as
Shadowlands, a book based on a play about the true story of
the author.

Bugs - Starts In October

A British drama series featuring a mixture of action, adventure and science-fiction. This new series of readings from books based on the television series offers fast-paced plots, technical gadgetry, stunts and explosions.

The plot of the series involves a team of specialist independent crime-fighting technology experts, who face
a variety of threats based around computers and other modern technology. The main trio of regulars are Nick Beckett, Ros Henderson and Ed.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein - Begins In October

August 30th was the birthday of Mary Shelley, the English writer famous for authoring Frankenstein when she was just 19 years old.

On The English Programme we’ll be looking at her life and works and we’ll be broadcasting a special reading of Frankenstein.

fiction television programme depicting the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s police box.

With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs. The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and is a significant part of British popular culture.

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully who are tasked with investigating unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.

Mulder plays the role of the “believer”, having faith in the existence of aliens and the paranormal, while Scully is a skeptic, initially assigned by her departmental superiors to debunk Mulder’s unconventional work.
